I do not have cancer, but I was searching the internet for a friend who has been treated for colon cancer and is experiencing difficulties with diarrhea. I found this forum as well as a web page that describes how to cope with the unfortunate after effects. She told me that much of what was listed on the web page she had to find out by herself with little or no help from her doctor.

I am providing the address for that web page to assist anyone needing help in what to eat and how to help control the diarrhea. May God bless all of you who are suffering from this terrible cancer!

I appreciate this website. I have been trying to get information from my doctor but that has been little to none.

I am 4 weeks past my resection and I keep having problems with loose stools. I would have appreciated some insturction on what to eat or not to eat rather than the " eat as tolerated" That means trial and error. God bless you for sharing.

I sent a reply but don't see it. Hate to say it all over again.... but here goes.

Had squamous cell carcinoma in my rectum. Diagnosed in 1995. Chemo and radiation, no surgery, but still have the diarea problem. I found that a beer helps me tremendously! My doctor says it shouldn't, but it does! I also wear a Maxi pad with my panties for an added bearrier and always carry spares. Milk and icecream are definate trouble, but sometimes worth it! I just make sure I am home when indulging! Amodium works wonders but you have to be careful. You can cause a problem by not going at all! Very uncomfortable! Room temp helps as well. Real cold water is bad but if it is room temp it seems to help. Meat or greasy foods aren't tolerated very well. Although there are days that I can eat a Rueben and be fine! It's basically a "crap shoot" literraly!! Found high fiber to be bad!

If I can be of any help at all, please talk!
