The fact that your nodes are increasing and then decreasing in size is actually a very good sign. I don't think you have much to be scared of, but if I were you I would still want to know what was going on
So, when you visit the haematologist, just let it flow. He/she will probably send you for blood tests about an hour before you see him, but each doctor is different. You need to see what the ultrasound said, and I'm sure that will be on your mind anyway!
Other than that, the appointment will probably just flow. He/she will say something, then you will have a question, then them, then you and so on. Sometimes you prepare yourself for all of these things that you want to ask and then they say something in the first 5 minutes that ruins your next 4 questions!
You'll be fine. Sometimes it helps to have someone with you, as the things that you might forget to ask about, the other person remembers!
Hope it goes well. Don't think about it too much, and take care.

Just received a letter from the hospital.
Haematological problem: Six months enlarged neck lymph nodes, less than 1 cm, full work up done. Toxoplasmosis IgG positive, IgM positive at xxx(hospital's name) but negative in reference labaratory centre. Neck ultrasound pending.
Blood results: Full blood count,U,andEs,LDH normal. EBV IgG positive(????? had no idea!!!), toxo IgG positive, toxo IgM positive at hospital but negative in reference labaratory centre.
Today's full blood count(4 weeks ago): white cell count 8.0,neutrophil count 4.6,monocytes 0.5,lymphocytes 2.7,haemoglobin 14.6, platelet count 274.
Ultrasound of the neck: pending report
I reviewed today this lady in our clinic. She is feeling fine without any B symptoms. On examination she has very tiny lymph nodes over her left and right side, less than 1cm:painful,soft. Apart from these neck nodes she has got normal liver, spleen and no other lymphandenopathy. She is very worried about the lymphadenopathy in spite of the explanation that she has no signs of any malignant lymph nodes. therefore I organised FNA and I will bring her back to the clinic in four weeks time to get the results of ultrasound and FNA.
Clinically, these lymph nodes are typical reactive lymph nodes, possibly due to past toxoplasmosis infection.
DR....
I had no idea that EBV came back as positive. When they did first 2 times I was told it was negative. I'll ask about it on my next appointment. They clearly think I am getting mad.. |

So.. My appointment with haematologist was my last one. They discharged me from the clinic. According to doctors they are not concerned about my enlarged lymph nodes as they are not big enough to be lymphoma and I also have no B symptoms, so there is nothing they can do for me. Doctor gave me his business card just in case lymph nodes get bigger, so I can give him a call
I guess I'll just have to leave everything as it is and if lymph nodes start growing I'll just have to go back to GP.
I honestly feel like I just waisted the last 7 months, because I didn't get the answers I was looking for. |

Well, I suppose that is kind of good news but with a weird lindering feeling?
LOADS of people are in the same situation as you. To tell you the truth, you are not alone. Still lots of people who feel the same way. Let's hope that you are able to get to the bottom of this somehow.
You just have to wait and see if the nodes will eventually go down. Try a detox (I know someone else who did it, and her nodes went down within a week). Try a natural one from the health shop, and see what happens. I would not usually tell this to people, for fear of giving them false hope, but your haematologist has already discharged you - what have you got to lose? Just everything to gain.
Try it and please let us know if it worked!
