Hello. First time poster. I lost my mother, grandmother and great grandmother to breast/ovarian cancers. When I was little, my father had Sarcoma of the knee. The tumor was removed and he was successfully cancer free. Last night, we found out that my father has Lymphoma. We are still in the early stages of diagnosis, so I do not know stage, etc. But we will know in the next few weeks.

We lost our mom and now this for our dad. For my mother, the breast cancer moved to the brain, lungs and bone. It was horrible to watch the suffering she had to endure -- and her passing was a blessing insofaras she no longer suffered. My fear is for my dad having to suffer as she did. And now I wonder if the Sarcoma he had when I was younger may have returned and is now in the lymphnodes. Is it possible that these are even connected?

I will keep strong for my dad as I did for my mom. I just feel so horrible for my dad because he lived thru that -- and now may have to live it himself. Is it wrong to say that I do not want him to suffer like my mom did? That pain and watching her deteriorate was horrific.

Anyway, I thank you in advance if you respond. Some specifics:
Sarcoma of the knee - age 28 - no treatments. In American Journal of Medicine and was told if they had not gotten it all, he would have died within 5 years of the surgery.
Lymphoma - age 72 - found while doing CT scan for Kidney stones that appeared again after 15 years. He also had pollops removed from colon that were cancerous, but no treatments done. He has diabetes and heart disease. He has been healthy, active, and happy until the past 6 months.
Says he has pain in his back???

Again...anyone who responds, thank you so much for your time.

Hi JenaeLyn

Without knowing what exactly is in the lymph nodes it is very hard to offer any support. If it is Lymphoma in all likelyhood he will go into remission after Chemo, but from what you have written that is not definite. When considering all lymphomas and all age groups, at all stages, the cure rate is 50% but a lot of factors come into to play here. Lymphoma is unrelated to sarcoma so it is very unlikely to be that.

Get back to us when you find out what your father has and what stage he is at and we may be able to offer more help. Don't panic at this stage there is hope, a quick read of the stories of the people on the lymphoma board should confirm that for you.

Good luck and hoping for some good news.
