Really, Really Scard

Hello, my name is William and I am new to these forums. I am 16 years old and I'm obviously really scared. I have had a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck for a while now. It is about half way down from my hairline and almost lined up with my ear. It is pretty mobile (I think) and a bit bigger than the top part of my index finger. About a week ago I noticed that my right tonsil had become swollen and that scared me even more. I just recently moved so I don't have a family doctor, but I'm going to some doctor's office with my mom tomorrow. I have looked everywhere online and all of these things point to lymphoma and I have been depressed the past few weeks. I don't believe I've had a fever, but about 2 days ago I noticed that my appetite was starting to disappear. I don't believe I've had nightsweats, but I might have. I have been told I'm a hypochondriac so that doesn't help much. I've never had a girlfriend and I'm a pretty shy person and I'm really scared because I believe I haven't had a chance to live yet and I don't want to die at such a young age. I have been praying constantly these past few days and I'm scared out of my mind. Crying or Very sad

Hey,

My advice to you is: Stay off the internet and quit trying to diagnose yourself. I can almost guarantee that you will be wrong. The chances that this is lymphoma is very slim.

If you have had nightsweats associsted with lymphoma, trust me...you would have noticed them...they are described as DRENCHING...so much that you have to change the sheets about three times a night.

I'll bet your appetite loss is attributed to your constant worry.

Let a Doctor look at them and live a little.

Thank you so much for the reply, Don. I know the internet isn't really reliable, but being a hypochondriac, I find myself going there a lot of the time. I know it worsens my condition, but it's really hard to keep my mind off of it.

Thank you for clarifying what "nightsweats" are. I haven't been DRENCHED, just sweaty.

I hope that my appetite loss is attributed to my constant worry, but it just makes me worry more which doesn't help at all.

I'll see what happens after we get the doctor stuff settled and I'll keep you updated.
