Hi. I am wondering what kind of treatment is the best to treat colon cancer? Is it just chemotherapy? What about alternative therapy? I saw some articles mentioned that Yoga is actually can cure colon cancer. Moreover, i heard that a change in diet is needed. What kind of diet should the patient adopt?

Please advise.

Denise,

If we consider traditional allopathic Medicine, the treatment for colon cancer usually involves surgery and chemotherapy.

There is a lot of talk about alternative medicines, but it is difficult to state if any therapy is efficacious without putting it to test using scientific methods, which are not usually done for these therapies.

What I know is that keeping a good mind and spirits mean a lot. People do better when they participate and believe in the treatment they are receiving. If alternative therapy like Yoga does not harm you, I see no reason why you could not try it in addition to standard therapy.

In terms of diet, it depends what kind of surgery (or not) you have. You will need help from a dietitian for that.

Thanks for your reply. What about radiation? Is it necessary to go for radiation? I heard that radiation will make the bones weaker. Is that true? Is it possible not to go for radiation?
