Energy levels up and down.....damn cough is very annoying. Weather is off the walls.....hot...then wild storms - then cool - then hot again. Driving my SAD crazy on top of all else

Had a long 200 km ride today in very lovely weather with a good break half way.

Big nap on return.

Apetite is funny - tastes buds seem shot. Shocked

Accurate and somewhat funny

Made it through 4th cycle infusion without much trauma - all went well. Buzzy steroid time.

I think I've identified my headache issue as ondansetron -

I wonder if anyone has had Dexamethasone instead.

Dexamethasone is a cost-effective alternative to ondansetron
http://www.library.nhs.uk/Eyes/ViewResource.aspx?resID=246755

I'd really prefer not to be fighting migraines for 5 days.. Got a call into the doc but wondered if anyone else was on Dexamethasone

Got a switch to some other anti - nausea that does not list headaches ( and is significantly cheaper - wish I'd know that )

but since I've got three left of the original Ond.....not sure what I will do. The ginger gravol chewable really settle my tummy.

My fav settle is a ginger ale float with vanilla frozen yogurt.

Wow - aside from the melt down with the endo day this cycle is turning out superb.

Very little digestive problem - no headaches - maybe the switch to Kytril helped a bunch.

Just a ton of energy thanks to the steroids but it's far more focused.

Almost feels as if my body has turned a corner on battling the lymphoma.

Is that possible???

We'll see when the steroids run out. Want to keep about 80% of the energy levels I've got.

What's with house cleaning and tidying obsession when on steroids???!!......got to be a commercial product there.... Cool Rolling Eyes

Hi Layla.

There should be a button that says something like "new post" on the index page, like the "post reply" button you used before. Or for starters you can just click this link: http://cancerforums.net/posting.php?mode=newtopic&f=7

My hubby has been diagnosed with NHL above. We were wondering if it's a good sign that he has not shown side effects. He gets frightened when he looks on the internet, but was wondering...does anyone have a place where there's a diary of what people go thru each day and how much it changes at the second treatment? Joepet, can you tell us of your experiences? Many many thanks.

Awwww gee shucks - someone misses me..... Wink

crazy busy - going into last round this Thursday...

pretty even energy this last round - went fishing for the weekend and had fun.

Bit low on energy on the way home so just stopped and napped.

••

Layla has your hubby started chemo???

He can set up a diary here...I found it useful to record what was happening and it was fine for the few that know I have it to follow progress as their worries are almost the hardest part to deal with.

It's an emotional load one doesn't really need when going through chemo which saps energy.

The diary helps your cancer team as well if you try and keep it regularly at least for the first few cycles.
I lazed out as there was nothing new.

Couple of more tips.

a baking soda toothpaste and baking soda rinses will help with mouth issues...sores and dry mouth.

Imodium works well - just don't over do it.

Banana based smoothies and shakes are easy on the mouth and digestion.

Tastes will change sometimes crazy.

Hunger when on the steroids is normal....my Doc says eat as your body needs fuel and the chemo destroys cells in the mucous membranes so nutrient uptake is affected.

Ugh - that last round was NOT fun Sad

Long day at chemo - started late - then they had trouble finding a vein 3 painful pokes......moved along after that but I was grumpy through out and not feeling well....slept a bit - could not read - very restless towards the end - really had to discipline myself...lucky it was last of that type..

They have a bell to ring when a complete chemo cycle is compete so that lifted my spirits - when with three nurses ( long day for them I was last one ) I banged on the bell and we hugged....gave me a lift

uncertain tummy and headache - not as bad as last time tho.
Tough night sleeping but kid sent me very Dad's day nice card that made me laugh and went out and got my meds for me.

Started the sterodds - here come de buzzzzzzzzz and hunger.
Think I'll do the pork roast and some potatoes so I can do small and frequent.- easiest on my tummy and keeping the beast at bay.

Single Dad - if hugs help, here's a cyber one Laughing
My hubby went on a job interview and is flying high on day 9! His blood levels were a little low yesterday, but he's feeling better today (not sure if it's adrenalin but we'll know next week). His hair should start falling out in a few days, so he's worried about that. We got a hair prosthesis (okay, wig) for work and we'll see how that goes.

What a great source to be here together as a community. We are not alone.
Anyway, after just 9 days of chemo, the doc said he can't feel his hard lymphnotes and his cough is gone! He's getting kind of pimply from the steriods first 5 days, but otherwise he's as happy as a clam. Thanks for all your help Chemoman

Thank you all so much.

Thanks for the hug.

You should get that diary going and let us know type and age etc. Helps us guide you.
••

Lots of energy today - needed it as it was super busy. Steroids are wild.
Fighting a lingering headache - that has been the worst side effect for me as I'm migraine prone anyways. Sad

Winding down now - trying to keep the anti-emetics to one per day....so far seems okay. Gooood pork roast -- keeping the hunger fed.

Time for a late night Mcycle ride.....been way too house bound.

I'd like to hear from others on recovering energy time lines after a full chemo cycle....doc says 3 months or so.

Hi SD

Recovery is very much an individual thing. I felt better after about 4 weeks but i did have a bit of chemo brain which took about 3 months to go away. OK now Smile My bloody hair is still not back to normal but I have given up hope that it will ever get back to what it was....at least I am alive to whinge about it Laughing

Good luck on this cycle SD....enjoy that ride Smile

Fell asleep after that marathon and enjoyable 13 hours of US Open and a crazy busy day. Rested now and will go out for a bit of a ride.

Got the same histamine reaction as last time - itchy and red when I woke up. No biggie now I know what it is.

Kid when out and bought me some ginger and lemongrass sparkling water that I used to buy but but felt a tad too $$.
Perfect from my tummy tho.
Got by with one anti-emetic and a bit of mint tea.

Have to get some more ginger tho.

I find sleep tends to heal me fastest - hoping i can get into a strong pattern now my kid is finished school.

Had a good 4 hours just now - out cold and feel great except for the itchies.

Not so hungry so the steroids are off a bit.

Thanks for the help.
