i'm a 31 yr old female... diagnosed 2 months ago. apparently i've had it for like 11 years so it had spread a good bit. i had surgery january 26th, and my supposed 2 hr surgery ended up being 9 hrs. by the time they took out the tumors and my thyroid, the doctor said he kept finding more buried under other tissues, muscles, etc. 6 golfball sized tumors were removed, my whole thyroid and a good bit of the lymph nodes too.
so a week in the hospital they send me home, after they take the drains out. 2 days later my neck starts filling with fluid.and i look like this:

they try inserting a drain in the office, that works to relieve it a bit for about a day, then i blow up again.

so back to the hospital to have those drains put back in. day later, i spring a leak, and this fluid is dumping all over me at a fast pace to the point i soaked thru every shirt i owned, soaked thru beach towels, you name it.
after a couple days of leaking they try to stitch it tighter, that works for about a few hours, and i start filling up again. so back to the hospital. apparently my thoracic duct was torn somehow, and they tried to stitch it up since that's what was causing the fluid to build up. so back in the hospital, on an iv thru my arm diet, not allowed to eat ANYTHING for a week til my body stops breaking down the fat from the foods i was eating?
my cut was ear to ear. i'm still having a lot of numbness in my right shoulder, the right to middle side of my neck. left side has some sensation in it but not as much. so i was spared most of the pain from thsi ordeal.
my neck is still swollen and way too stiff to turn my head fully to either side, nor can i lift my head up straight. it pulls really tight and hurts like hell if i try to. the doc said fibrosis set in there, and to massage it to break up the scar tissue and that's what was making it stiff.
has anyone else had any similar problems? |
