Has anyone had radiation and how did it effect what you could do? My doctor isn't sure I will be able to work cause I am a paralegal as the treatments are daily for 6 weeks. I cannot afford another 6 weeks off work. I don't know what to do.

Of course each of us are different and our cancers are not even the same type. However, here is my radiation story for whatever it is worth.

I too had radiation but only 1 day a week for 12 weeks. The major problems for me (and it really was not major) was that I felt drained following each treatment. However, nothing that a nap would not solve. I was able to take off that time on a medical leave of absence and it would have been hard for me to work during that time. But I was doing much more physical work than you.

Good luck.

Hi, Just noticed your posting. In my case, radiation was difficult, but I had two surgeries for other medical problems just before I begun radiation. But my understanding from what I have read and experienced is radiation to the pelvis can produce severe nausea. I could eat very little the first two weeks, later I graduated to applesauce and soups. I never ate anything before my treatments, but even still I experienced severe nausea. It was very difficult, I found taking ginger supplements helped with my nausea greatly, but I did not take those into about two weeks in the process. I was exhausted, but also toting two recent surgeries in addition to a hysterectomy several weeks before. It may be difficult the first couple of weeks, but after that the nausea will likely dissipate according to what I have read. Hope this helps and my prayers are with you.

Rhonda
