Hello everyone,

Let me give you a little background about myself. 2 years ago i started bleeding while having intercourse. A month later i had found out that I was pregnant. Then I had a miscarriage month & half later. While at the doctors during a follow up from my miscarriage they gave me a pap smear since i was due for one. The pap came back with pre-cancerous cells but since it was more on the invasive side he wanted to go and have a biopsy done to make sure it was cancer. That came back negative which was great so he sent me to have a the LEEP procedure done. All the while this has been going on I not only have been bleeding while having intercourse but also had some very little to mild pain during intercourse. After they did the LEEP they tested me again 6 months later and found that it was all gone. At that time my bleeding started to minimize. About 4 months later i started going through the bleeding issues all over again along with very irregular periods. My normal period is like clock work always started 28 days after the start of my first day never later thats how i knew when i was pregnant with my 3 kids. Anyways I was also having constipation and other bowl related problems but I've always had issues with not going as frequent as most people should. Then Just this past 6 months I've been in and out of my doctors trying to figure out what is wrong and why i am bleeding so irregular. By this time i was bleading 3-4 weeks out of the month. Most of the time i only had mild to little abdominal pain so i wasn't to worried. Over the past 6months my doctor has performed several including an ultrasound & pap smear and during one of his evaluations he found a polyp. I thought he had found the problem but it just started to go down hill from there. He finally referred me to my gyno who i see since he was unable to find my problem. Also the pap smear came back us atypical undetermined. The gyno has been helping me out a lot and i hope to by the end of the week find out whats wrong. I am scheduled for a D&C and hystorscopy on Thursday.

My current symptoms are:

- Bloating and at times feels like a baby is kicking me on my side.
-Sever Constipation defiantly out of my ordinary I have to take a laxative every time to go i've not gone on my own for about 5 months now
- A lot of lower back pain including this very weird sensation in my legs kinda of like what it feels like when your leg goes to sleep
- I also have been bleeding 4 weeks out of the month, during intercourse, and after
- Extreeme pain during intercourse, thought at first it was related to my gyno doing a biopsy but It's been a month since he has done that and the pains is getting worst not any better
- Also for the past 3 weeks i've had this constant but at first was mild pain but now its really starting to hurt in the left side were my ovary would be located. At one point i even thought that it could be my appendix
- Also since i was diagnosed with IBS in 2001 and also an extra large colon I always would rub my belly to try to help me go and about 4 months ago I noticed what felt like a mass next to my left ovary. I thought at first it was my bowls but from what i could feel it wasn't.

Well anyways with all that info I just wanted to ask a question to others who have ovarian cancer. I did have an ultrasound last me and they didn't find anything out of the ordinary is it possible for an ultrasound not to pick anything up? Did anyone else have an ultrasound come back as normal but found out later that you did indeed have it.

Thanks,

Michille

Mrs.Baker,

I would suggest you ask you Dr. for a CA125 test. They will not offer this test to you usually. This is a blood test and it picks up any cancer cell activity within your body. If your levels are high then I would sugguest you demand a MRI or CT scan.

You have to remember you are your only advocate...Don't brush anything off but also don't drive yourself insane.

May God bless you..

While it is good to get the CA125 tumor marker test, it is NOT necessarily indicative of whether someone has or does not have ovarian cancer.

I had ovarian cancer, but my CA125 was normal.

I'm just offering this up because a while back (a year or so), I had abnomal CA19-9 test (test for pancreatic tumor markers) and I was at the time experiencing abdominal pain that was crippling. Turned out there was nothing notably wong.

Mrs Baker,

I am certainly no specialist, but the mention of bleeding and a polyp reminded me of my mother who had issues with bleeding. I do not know your age, and sometimes that is not even relevant (since I was 27 when I had ovarian cancer and it is more commonly found in older people) My mother had polyps and they did some procedure to remove the polyps. She continued to bleed and they ended up giving her I think what is referred to as a "D & C" (I believe in layman's terms, it's a scraping...or cleaning and is a day surgery). She still has her ovaries - it's just some kind of clean out. I wish I could be more specific, but suffice to say the bleeding stopped. She was experiencing menopause and has been for several years, but the bleeding had become abnormal.

Definitely pursue the matter. Abnormal bleeding and pain is not something to ignore. (Which I see you aren't.) It does not necessarily indicate cancer though.
