Hello

I have had this enlarged right axillary lymphe node for several years, at least 5. I find it difficult to measure it but it is about 1,5 cm x 0,75 cm. It doesn't hurt, never has, it doesn't grow, it feels soft and smooth, is moveable and has an oval shape. I dont have any other symptoms or other swollen glands. I check my breasts and armpits at least once a month.

I had Pfeiffer in 2000. Before that, I never felt a swollen node. Ever since , when I get a sore throat for instance, my neck glands swell. I suspect that I had that armpit node since then.

Of course, when I felt it 5 years ago, I went to see my doctor. She said that it was nothing and that it would probably never go away. I should return when it started to grow or ache or change. Well, it hasn't. Two years later, I had to see a doctor about my allergy, and just to be safe, I let him check it also (it was a different doctor because we had moved). He said exactly the same thing.

Next thuesday I am having my yearly appointment with my gyneacologist. He hasn't checked it, because I was pregnant on my last visits. Now I find myself to be nervous again for the consult. What do you think? Do I have a reason to worry. By the way, I am now 30 years old.

Hi
Sorry to hear this is worrying you so much. Maybe next time you see the doctor you should get a biopsy simply to put your mind at rest. Most enlarged nodes are due to infection so you will probably get a negative on the biopsy but at least you won't be worrying about it any more.

Good luck
