Sheila I am so happy to hear of the upturn in your Mother's events and she, you and your family are in my prayers and thoughts that soon she will be able to be home. Hospitals are okay when needed but sometimes there just is "no place like home" ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) _________________ Total hysterectomy July 23 2008, mass felt in colon during surgery.

Topazil...I think the prayers are being answered- (lrt me correct that-I know our prayers are being answered thank you also for yours-every one helps tremendously-there is no small prayers.!they are talking about sending her home tomorrow-setting up for the visiting nurse for bloodwork etc. I hope for moms sake there isnt a delay.
Im just nervouse about hooking up her nutrient drip to her picc line(scares me) they said they will send someone to show us..I guess its probably not too difficult or they couldnt send people home with them-probably easy once its done a few times- I say several. Im just afraid that I may do something wrong....how scarey would that be?
but shes very excited to come home-I can here the up in her voice. too bad this wasnt the tail end of all this just hoping she gets a break for a change....a well deserved break! so Im home cleaning setting up a place and cooking things I know she can eat making our shop list etc.... |

Moms been home since 4:30!!-It has been overwhelming tho-she has a mix up with one of her prescriptions-we need to straighten it out tomorrow-and we need to find out when they gave her some of her last meds so as when to start doing them here-what a mess. then 5:30-they delivered 2 huge bags and 2 boxes of supplies for her picc line feeding.(not quite as bad as it looked. then 6 o-making mom dinner somehomemade veg soup-she ate it and it didnt make her sick-yay!
but that was also the time the trick or treaters were arriving the dogs were going nuts and the visiting nurse came by to instruct me on the nutrient set up-OMG! head overload...fizzle fizzle smoke pssssssssss,,,,
plus the prescription mom sat in the car 45min waiting for them to fill had to be called in and was too much so they supposedly corrected it and guess what??it had to be picked up .when? between 6-8 got ahold of my brother and he was able to get it whew!!
Then we got it here and the nurse said it was still wrong-ok calm down...It will get easier _I hope. once Im in routine it should go a bit smoother.
so when you go home and they are going to deliver things you may need -dont have that panic attack-its njust alot because its backups too!
I am Sooooo tired-moms been out.-now I cant take my sleeping pill tonight because her beeper to end feeding will go off around 5
and I have to turn it off-charge the pump and flush her lines. then I can go to sleep and relax-cant sleep normally without a pill.
we are going to start the feeding later som shes not done untill 9 next time-Like I said its alot of adjusting but do-able. hope everyones having an ok-great evening-its been crazy were all exhausted but she IS HOME everyone was in prayer today-had a votive burning since 9 this morning and just put it out for the night about an hour ago. goodnight all-oh yeh get this -the person we would normally contact should any problem arise would be her surgeon-but she went away this week a seminar of some kind. hopefully we wont ned anyone. |

Sheila I am so very glad to hear your Mother is home and that the adjustments are coming even if a bit at a time. You have a great deal of strength but remember there will be times when you need "me" time also so do you have like a family member, friend, or home nurse who can spell you from time to time to give you a break? (sorry chemo brain running full gear here and although I've read through the whole post cannot find anything regarding the above, sorry if you posted and I missed it.)
My thoughts and prayers are with you, your Mother, your family and friends and I am so very happy for you all right now that you have your Mother home (Hugs) _________________ Total hysterectomy July 23 2008, mass felt in colon during surgery.

Topazil-well me time is hard to get right now-Im the only one that is a stay home housewifr/homemaker. I have only two younger btothers one works full time 5am-2pm and goes to bed at 7pm-he has his grandchildren on weekends-his wife is busy with elections right now and works from 9am-11pm and shares the grandchildren on the weekend -my younger brothe is heating and air guy and lives at moms home but works mornings afternoons and evenings any day of the week so he only pops in and out,
my husband is owner of a machine shop and has to be ther from7am-sometimes 7pm if busy and works till 3 on sdaterdays. I have no children and moms relatives are too old and have problems of there own..
I dont mind too much-its just I am worried that since no-one eles is learning all this-who can I count on if I become ill? every one of my friends have been staying away because they or someone in their family has either a bad cold or the flu-I keep pumping the vitamin Cand B12-Im not too exhausted yet- I at least had a decent 6 hours last night,,,
It is rough not having a backup and I would just feel horrible to have to send her somewhere I just couldnt do it. I just have to pray for health and stregth to do what I have to do.-thanks for caring |

Sheila I don't know what area you are in or what is available but if your mother is on Social Security regular or disability she can get some in between help.
Try these links and I will see what else I can find okay?

she is on s.s and blue cross blue sheild. and said she has another supplimental care-(which allowed her to stay as long as she did in the hospital) we have the follow up visiting nurse from upmc I believe.
but thats only to train me how to set up her nutrient drip.amd flush the picc lines.and program the computer pump.
Thanks for the info sites I stuck them in favorites so I can read whenever I can get a chance. I live in Bethel park pa. thanks again |

| well -moms got a long way to go but is definately on the right road-nausea subsiding slowly, shes eating more(not a ton) but a good variety and its staying down-still having output problems, but I see a definate improvement....and guess what??? I finally am feeling better about administring the TPN . a few more times and Ill be good to go and can get some kind of routine again. she may be here for quite a while-and we may even be able to train her how to hook up so I keep praying her body will recover enough that she needs few back up nutrients...only time wil tell. |
