Hello all,

I used to post a lot to this forum (can't remember my username) but stopped when my husband, John, took a turn for the worse and I didn't have time. My dh has since passed away.
I am posting because since John died I've been trying to think of something I could do help other caregivers out there dealing with the challanges and struggles of this journey. I'm a big fan of podcasts, which are like talk shows that are available on the internet. You can down them for free from iTunes and other sites, and they are usually made by amatures who do them out of their homes. The subjects range from Star Trek to Cooking and I just love them.

I want to do a podcast about caregiving. Each show I'd like to include other caregivers, as well as special guest from the medical field, social services, Brain Tumor foundations, medical resource providers, hospice folks, lots of people that we as caregivers work with and come into contact with along the way. I've found, as a podcast fan, that the most successful podcast include more than one host. You wouldn't need special equipment to participate, just a telephone. We would have a certain time planned to record the show, you would simply call in from your location, and that would be it.

I am still learning the technical aspects of this, but I think I should be ready to try the first recording in a few weeks. There isn't any money associated with this endevour, I'm just wanting to have a helpful resource out there and am looking for other caregivers who are strong advocates for their loved ones and who like to talk. SO, please let me know if you're interested! I think it could be really be great!

I think thats a great idea! My hubbo has a BT and thankfully only needs my nagging to get him moving (normal hubby stuff) I'd love to hear from others dealing with all stages and issues of BTs.

Thanks, Kristalee. If you'd like to participate, just let me know and we'll touch base. I think the most enjoyable podcasts are where people just basically gab about a subject matter, but with a theme for each show just to keep some structure. What kind of tumor does your husband have? How long have you been dealing with his diagnosis? I would love to hear your story. I really miss nagging my husband. I just miss him, period. Crying or Very sad

Hallo, well, my husband Mark has a Oligoastrocytoma grade 3, we found out a month after we were married, we were both 28 at the time, its been a year and he is doing great. His doctors have given him a great prognosis , saying he wouldnt be at all surprised if Mark isn't doing better in five years. He is on a clinical trial at Dana Farber, it has really worked well for his tumor. Surgery removed 60% and the rest of the tumor has shrunk down at least 50% from the VEGF trap. He really has very few side effects, just some memory problems, which we are hoping well get better with time. He will be stopping the Temodar in a few months, but keep getting his VEGF trap infusions.
I am sorry about your hubby Sad I know you miss him. It's very good of you to want to help others dealing with BT's.
Krista
