Hi all,

I am new here-have posted once before. As I said in that post I have not been diagnosed with lymphoma. I'm having more blood tests and a CT scan in December for enlarged abdominal lymph nodes.
Lots of crushing fatigue lately and abdominal bloating but not much else.
However, 4 weeks ago I had my first ever attack of shingles. My doc says it could be because my immunity is compromised but she said people without lymphoma get shingles too.

Has anyone on this forum had shingles before they were diagnosed?
Shingles is aweful. I had 3 weeks off work!

Cheers fayeh

Hi fayeh,
I suggest you don’t occupy your mind with Lymphoma before you are diagnosed with it or at least there’s a strong suspicion that you may have it.
In my case, a compromised immune system came after the chemo treatment, not before it, and I believe this is the common case, so please stick with your doc’s advice and make sure you exhaust all the options with the shingles. If one doc can’t help you seek another’s advice. This is what happened to me when I had chemo induced awful itching and I didn’t give up until I found the cure. Good luck and be well soon.

Hi fayeh

Relax no need to panic. The shingles could very well be responsible for the enlarged abdominal nodes. Shingles before Lymphoma diagnosis is unusual and shingles is NOT an indication you have lymphoma.

Hope the exams and scans go well and Good Luck

Hi fayeh,

Shingles is famous in Japan for being the disease contracted by the current Crown Princess (and future Empress) of Japan. She ended up staying out of public for many months, and still hasn't resumed a full schedule.

The only fullproof cure for shingles is a lot more rest and a lot less stress. Do relax and try to take your mind off of your medical troubles outside of the doctor visits!
