I apologize for the second post but now that I have found you guys I have so many questions that I have been trying to deal with by myself.

What are the odds of reoccurence from stage III colon cancer? I had the tumor removed and 6 out of the 24 lymph nodes taken came back positive finished chemo a year ago, now problems with the uterus but hopefully not the same cancer so far they are just precancerous cells.

I am only 33 and hate that I have to worry about reoccurence so I figure if I know what i can expect then maybe my worrying will stop and i can begin to live my life again.

HI,
Cancer is an evil and wicked disease, every one is so different when it comes to cancer, it really depends on Treatment, your attitude to it, your diet, excercising, drinking lots of water ,, and then there is Prayer... put all that together and you have a huge chance of living a good life..

Live one day at a time and get the best out of each day,, try and work at been positive in all circumstances. and have a good support group round you that will keep you going...

God Bless You and Praying for You ............Rob
Live just one day at a time

Excellent point star. Never under estimate the power of positive thinking. You can probably add religion in on that equation. If you are a religious person.

I had stage III, and am awaiting results on my right lung and an enlarged lymph node.

My attitude prior to about 2 months ago was this will never happen to me again, I am 26 so I still thought I was bullet proof and didn't look after my diet again or stress level.

I think to have the best chance you need to utilize every opportunity you have to stop recurrence. Remember that added 1% is still 1%.

Focus on your diet, plenty of water and get your mind clear. Forget about cancer, focus on other important things. My thoughts are that if the brain is so powerful to control every little thing we do, then it can also prevent cancer. So make sure you get your mind right and forget about it.

I've needed this second scare of maybe more surgery and treatment to learn where I am going wrong, because although the first time taught me some lessons, this time round I know that if I don't get it right, then a 3rd recurrence is possible.

Be strong, motivated and brave and work your butt off to make sure this prick of a disease never effects you or your family again.

I don't really know about your odds of recurrance, mine are pretty much it's going to happen, again, and again and again until well you know. I have my miracle, Tom and that is all I ask of God. Whatever time these treatments buy us together will be more than enough for me, but I think from my reading that you have a chance of recurrance but not as good as me, so (morbid humor here) when you feel down think about Marsha AKA Topazil and think, hey I got it better off than her (grins) and you'll smile I guarantee. Hey, when the "Alzheimer's commercial" comes on TV I turn to Tom and dead pan say "Well, I won't have to worry about that" (sorry to those who have such or have relatives that have such, no offense intended) and he'll take a few seconds to get it and then say "You are so wrong" and laugh his butt off (LOL)

I have Stage III. I thought I was in the clear, but we missed some cells on the outside of the colon. That is where the new tumors grew, after about a year after I finished chemo.

If you can go a couple of years with clean scans, I think you'll be in the clear of a recurrence. They told me that first 18 months was the greatest odds of it reoccurring. After that, the odds go way down. After 5 years, they consider you cured.

My husband, Jack, had a stage 3 colon cancer, with 2 lymphnodes outside of colon cancerous as well. That was 5 years this past July. In March of this year, he was diagnosed with stage 4 recurrent colon cancer with mets to his liver, 4 tumors, in both lobes of the liver, was on Xeloda, oral 5FU, but a couple months ago, the Dr. took him off of treatment, as it wasn't working and his CEA kept elevating, and liver function blood tests were elevated as well. He is now dying, Hospice has been in our home for 3 and a half weeks. He is 75 years old, I am 57, we have sons aged, 22, 21, and 16, it has been a difficult journey we have traveled.

I do hope the best for you, that God will give you peace.
