I just posted this on another group, so if you have read it already, sorry about the repeat. I just thought I'd ask here too. I noticed 2 1/2 months ago a place form on my leg. It was a swollen place. It is on my right inner thigh. The next day it started hurting. There was also a bruise there. The weird thing is I do not know how I hurt it. Also, when I felt of it I thought I felt something there. I knew I had gone on a diet and lost some weight, so I figured it could be a fatty tissue. So, I ignored it. But when the pain would never go away, I finally went to an Orthopedic. He felt of it today and said he didn't think there was anything wrong with the bone, tendons, ligaments, or muscles, but he did feel a hard mass. So, he wanted to x-ray to make sure of what he thought. And he did say the x-ray looked good, but he wanted me to get an MRI to make sure of the mass he found. I do not know if anyone has had this happen to them before. Shoudl I be worried?

Hi youth4god2. I am sorry about your current health concerns. I don't know if you should worry; the fact is that you are worried. I would advise you to continue working with your own medical team to try to find out what that hard spot is. I would not have gone to an Orthopedic doctor but maybe to a GP who, by the nature of his/her specialty, sees a much wider assortments of abnormalities. But continue on with the Orthopedic doctor for now. He my refer you to someone else anyhow.
Is it high enough the you would say it is in your groin area? If it is, could it be an ingrown hair? The can become quite large (dime size) and painful. But I would think even an Orthopedic doctor could visually diagnosed that.

It is not in the groin area. but it is on the thigh. (At least that is the location the Dr said). I went to him b/c it is a swollen place that sticks out of the skin. It is just weird b/c the whole leg and around the area is not swollen just that one place. It is like when someone gets a cist in their neck and it gets real big and you can see it bulging on the neck. That is what it is like. I am even thinking that could be what it is, but I still want to make sure. Thanks! The other thing that is making me wonder is b/c it does hurt. And can be painful after exercise or someone touching or pushing on it a lot. Basically after about an hr of pressing on it or whatever, I will start hurting. But, the Dr took an x-ray and found nothing wrong, but that he found something hard in there. And being an Orthopedic, he knows what should be in that area. Thanks for responding.

Praise the Lord. I was told on Tuesday that whatever is going on in my leg is not cancerous. Thanks everyone for the advice!
