|

Does medicare pay a good part of radaition? Or a small fraction? Just wondering if we'll need to come up with more money if Mom needs radation.
What is a ball park figure that radaition costs? I know they said she'll have to go every day for a month, depending on the biopsy. Sounding pricy, already, and I need to get a guestamate on what we'll need so won't get caught broke. |

Bnot,
Medicare pays a percentage of everything, but I hope your Mom has a secondary insurance carrier. That's the biggie who will cover the leftover costs from Medicare. We had a good secondary and never spent more than the 1500 deductible per year for everything. I think the deductible is the Medicare part, but I could be wrong. All I remember is we didn't pay anything once that 1500 was met each year.
Hope this helps.

Bnot,
Then medicare picks up whatever portion they pick up and you are responsible for the rest. I don't know the percentages -- never bothered to look! Someone else might know if they are like 80/20 or whatever.

I knew that much as I'm on medicare too.
I just don't know how much the treatments cost.
And if anyone else has medicare, are they stuck with a $10,000+ bill after medicare pays.
Just wondering if I'll have to refinance my home to pay for Mom's treatment, as neither of us are rich. |
