After Chemo, my mum can`t keep her food down. What is this ?

I am new to the forums, firstly I would like to say Hi to everyone.

My mum had surgery for lung cancer followed by Chemotherapy. She has had 3 monthly scans and all seems to be fine, there are no signs of the cancer re-appearing. One thing which is really distressing us though is the fact that she can`t keep her food down. Out of 7 days in every week, she is fine for 4 days and then very ill for 3 days. During these ill days she can`t even keep water down.
On her `good` days, we have found that giving her small amounts of food and not after a certain time of the day (6.30pm) helps but she is very weak.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? we will try anything.
