Hi Everyone:

My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer somewhere near November/07. She went through chemo and radiation which she responded to. Jan/09 it was back (although I am sure it was never gone to begin with, the medical system in Canada is TERRIBLE) and spread to her liver, lungs, and spleen.

She was almost dead when I got to her in Feb/09. She has been getting chemo, taxol and carbo combo, and we have been doing things ourselves too. Today she is doing so much better. Dr is shocked. We are currently awaiting results from latests catscan to see how much better (fingers crossed).

I am really anxious to hear stories from other stage 4 cancer ladies. My mom has been to hell and back but she is doing better now and I am praying it will last. I am really concerned about the chemo she is getting. SHe has had 4 treatments so far, max dose harsh harsh stuff. I am wondering, if the cancer has been beaten back how much more beneficial is keeping going with this treatement? I have read elsewhere that people usually respond, if they respond, for the first maybe 3-4 treatments and then the last ones are just to be sure? But when someone is as sick as a stage 4 cancer patient then does it make sense to plague their bodies with more chemo, if it isnt going to do much more good?

Any opinions or just people's stories who have had to deal with advanced cervical cancer would be very much appreciated.

My name is Lynda and in 2007, I was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive Endometriod (Cervical) and Ovarian Carcinoma. I read your email and I guess the thing that differs between me and ur Mom is that I had a radical hyst and my muscles were scraped as well. I had chemo, no radiation. I am a 2 yr survivor as of Dec 2009. Id like to give you and your Mom some support because I know what its like to lay in bed because every bone (not muscle) in your body hurts so bad that you just wanted it to all be over with. But, keep pushing on. Pat urself on the back for being there for your Mom and kiss her for being so STRONG! [/b]
